A Youth-led project

A chance for our young people to give something back...

During the winters of 2020, 2021 and 2022, young people supported by YES Outdoors have successfully delivered our Winter Care Package Campaign.

The campaign was inspired by our young people during the national lockdown in 2020. They wanted to help vulnerable older people at risk of loneliness during the festive period due to being isolated from loved ones.

The young people came up with the idea of distributing over 100 care packages containing essential items. The packages would provide practical support and serve as a gesture of goodwill to lift the recipient’s spirits.

Staff from YES Outdoors, in collaboration with community partners and local businesses, supported the young people to turn their vision into reality.

The care packages included items such as tea, coffee, chocolates, tinned foods, hot water bottles and fluffy socks. There were also items designed to put a smile on faces including puzzle books and hand-made decorations by local nursery children.

The campaign was a great success and brought the local community together to make a positive difference. It provided young people with a sense of purpose to occupy their minds away from the challenges of life in 2020. The main highlight was the positive reactions and feedback from the older people who received a care package.

In December 2021, our young people built on the success of the previous campaign by distributing an impressive 200 care packages to support vulnerable older people.
